Your days in the Cirque de l'Ardeur are coming to an end. It will be less than 48 hours until you're allowed to leave if you choose so. With the finish line in sight, all one must do now is survive until then.

However...one or more people may not have gotten to.

When everyone wakes up, nothing seems off. There are no burning tents right now. Despite that, as soon as they get wandering around, they'll notice something awful happened last night.

It's time for the second performance of the Cirque de l'Ardeur to begin.

[WELL OKAY YEAH that is fairly obvious, good to know. Would he recognize this sword as one that anyone has been carrying during the week?

But since there is something going on with her neck, let's take a look at that first. What sort of injury are we talking about here?]

[wringmaster]

[The sword looks like one from the training tent and doesn't really have any special features, so it's hard to say! It's also noticeably tarnished and ashy because of the whole... fire thing so there's that too.

Well, the thing at her neck looks like a cut, although the skin around it is charred and kind of shrunken, so it's hard to get an idea of what the wound edges and original size would've looked like.]

[Can he tell how deep it is, at the very least? Give him an idea of how much force would be involved here...

Also what sort of angle are we looking at? From left to right, a downward slash or an upwards one, etc.?]

[wringmaster]

[It's... decently deep? Like, enough to make one do a concern if you saw someone with that kind of cut on their neck, but it's not like it goes to the bone or anything.

It's hard to tell the exact directionality (as in, if it was left to right or right to left) because the skin shrinkage due to the drying but he can definitely tell it's more or less horizontal.]

[Interesting. So while he's up here, what's up with that injury on the back of her head, also?]

[wringmaster]

[Well, the back of her body is slightly less burned thanks to her body having been just... slumped back into the seat, but it's still pretty bad. Still, if he checks it out, it does look like there's a pretty big bump on her head, although it's hard to make out the colour due to the aforementioned burns. Is he doing a visual examination only or is he manhandling her a little?]

[HE DOESN'T EXACTLY WANT TO but yeah, he's manhandling a little just so he can do the most thorough investigation possible.

So yeah... probably touching that bump at least a little bit...]

[Yep, it sure feels like a bump. Also, he'll probably get a decent amount of dried, dark brown crust flaking off onto his fingers. Smells a little like iron, but also just very burnt. Hurray?]

[mirristry]

[... huh. More like iron than a typical blood smell?]

[wringmaster]

[No, well. It basically just smells like what you'd expect from blood, just with heavy overtones of "wow this sure burned for a while huh".]

[Noted! Now time to check out that sword.

Does it look like she was stabbed before the burning happened, as he's assuming?]

[wringmaster]

[The blade certainly looks discolored and there's soot sticking to the entire sword (hilt included), so at the least it certainly looks like it was sitting through the fire for a bit, that's for sure. Incidentally, since she's just slumped against the backseat and the sword is sticking out of the chest (i.e. the sword is approximately parallel to the length of the car), it should be obvious it's not at an angle where someone could, say throw the sword in through a window and get it to land in her body like that.

And as mentioned previously, it's one of the training tent swords so there aren't really any distinguishing features on the blade or the hilt.]

[Don't mind him just... pulling the blade out here...

So just how much of it was actually in the wound-- how deep did it go, in other words? Deep enough to go through the bone of the ribcage? Did it go through the bone?]

[wringmaster]

[Pretty deep! It certainly did go through the bone and would've been deep enough to hit her heart.]

[mirristry]

[In other words, this was done by someone with a considerable amount of physical strength. Good to know.

He'll give the body a quick once-over to make sure there isn't anything else of note, and then turn his attention to where she's sitting. Does anything stand out about the interior of the car here? Besides it being burned, that is.]

[wringmaster]

[Nothing else stands out on the body, nope! There also isn't really anything to note in the car interior either, it seems like it hasn't really been messed with at all otherwise.]

[mirristry]

[Okay, if Volo has the outside then Phil is just going to back out of the car to take a few deep breaths... and probably cry about this a little more, but shhh.]
