The first thing you hear is the crackling of fire. It's loud, indicating you're in the vicinity of a bonfire of spectacular size, but you don't feel any heat.
Open your eyes, find out the day is pleasant and bright. The sky above is of a perfect blue, fluffy clouds passing by and towards the distance. There's a refreshing breeze, and the floor underneath you is clean despite being made of dirt and little else. Behind you, the bonfire you had heard a moment ago. It takes only one look to know it's supernatural in nature -- a foregone conclusion given you being here is supernatural as well. Posts full of colorful flags in a bannerline sway in the breeze. An especially large banner shows the name of the place you're in.
'Cirque de l’Ardeur'
Check your pockets if you'd like, you're dressed just as you were before that ticket to the circus was pressed into your hand. You'll find a bauble that feels personal to you, maybe a candy seahorse, a dandelion that's seen better days, a beautiful ribbon or something else. Attached to each bauble is a tag written with a number, with a drawing of a tent on the other side. One look at it shows you something you lost once, and you feel a strong desire
to keep it close and secure even if it doesn't feel completely whole yet. It feels as if something or someone took a peek into your very self and obtained this, and now is showing it to you. Is it a kind offer, or is there a catch? No way to tell right now.
Once you've gotten your bearings, a giant red sign post catches your attention, a large
map tacked onto it with a somewhat messy legend. Attached is a note in similar messy handwriting:
PRE-SHOW AT 6PM IN THE MAIN TENT
It's probably in your best interest go. How else will you find out more about why you're here? But it will be a while until the time announced, the giant clock above the fire reading out exactly noon. Since there's time to kill, how about getting acquainted with the
strange location you find yourself at?
