First Performance
FIRST PERFORMANCE
You've had the chance to explore your surroundings, meet your ringmaster and his assistant, and even sit through (or experience) an impromptu demonstration of some real live magic. However impressed or unimpressed you may have been at the revival (or those itty bitty details about the "performances" you're expected to put on), opening day ends without any additional fanfare, leaving everyone to spend the rest of the evening and the entirety of Sunday however they wish. Perhaps you took the time to look around some more, perhaps you went to connect with your fellow performers, or perhaps it was none of the above -- either way, the day passes reasonably peacefully.
Sunday night into Monday morning, however, is a little different from the previous one. Even if you aren't the type to sleep early or at all, everyone will find themselves dozing off at some point during the evening (or early morning) and sinking into a long, vivid dream. Perhaps it's a simple recreation of memories, or perhaps it's an abstract mishmash of concepts that's more symbolic than anything else, but either way, you'll intuitively know: the dream is about what you've lost. And upon waking, you'll be left with a clear memory of the dream, alongside any feelings that have been dredged up, which includes an intrinsic understanding of what exactly your bauble represents.
What you do with that knowledge is up to you, but as they say: the show must go on.
The sun is shining and the circus is as cheerful and desolate as ever. The ringmaster seems content to leave everyone to their own devices, so feel free to familiarize yourselves with all the equipment and props this place has to offer. And if you hear the occasional giggle or happen to spy a shadow that flits behind a nearby tent, well. Don't worry about it. There's nothing there, after all.
Everybody also will find posters scattered around the circus, showing off information about all the performers. They're carefully crafted and accurate. Nothing like knowing everything about the talented people around you!
